Sizzy Rocket: From The Archives

An EP reflection of Sapphic “Sitiuationships” and Sadness

Sizzy Rocket’s new EP, “From the Archives,” is a collection of songs that will take listeners on an emotional journey of sapphic heartbreak. The four-track EP showcases Sizzy’s unique blend of alternative pop, rock, and electronic influences. The EP was created by Sizzy in collaboration with some of the most talented producers in the music industry, including Grammy Award-winning producer Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Amy Winehouse) and multi-platinum producers Jon Levine (Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5), John Shanks (Kelly Clarkson, Bonnie Raitt) and Mark Needham (The Killers). Each track on the EP is laced with infectious hooks, dynamic rhythms, and soaring vocals that perfectly capture the essence of broken-heartedness. The EP’s sound differs from her previous upbeat and hard-hitting work and consists of an emotionally charged and unforgettable collection of songs that will stay with listeners long after they finish listening. The softer songs feature pianos and hearty vocals. The stripped record tug at the heartstrings of listeners. It is an impressive follow-up to her album “ANARCHY” and further proves why she is one of today’s most exciting artists.

The opening track “CELINE” is an infectious blend of alternative pop and punk rock that will leave you wanting more. The track is a refreshingly unique take on the genre. The song begins with a slow, melodic piano that immediately draws in the listener. As Sizzy’s powerful voice builds in intensity, it conveys both vulnerability and strength in equal measure. The chorus has an irresistible hook that will stay stuck in your head long after the track ends. The raunchy lyrics are embedded with pop culture references building the story of being infatuated by a hookup. Yet, the artist knows “forever’s not a thing”. The production is polished and dynamic wording embodies the painful tension of catching feelings for someone who only wants a casual encounter. The result is a vibrant and textured soundscape with energy to spare. Above all else, “CELINE” showcases Sizzy Rocket’s undeniable talent for crafting memorable melodies and deep yet comedic lyricism.

“Bleach” expands on the previous song and is a sapphic breakup ballad. The song centers around changing yourself following the loss of a lover. When you lose part of your heart, you lose a component of yourself too. Sizzy Rocket’s new song “Bleach” is a powerful anthem of self-discovery and transformation. The track takes listeners on a sonic journey of self-reflection and attempted growth. The lyrics speak to the pain of heartbreak and the journey of finding one’s own identity after being defined by someone else for so long. The track is full of relatable moments that will resonate with anyone who has been in a relationship like this before — from feeling like you’re not quite sure who you are anymore to constantly fighting against your urges to go back but needing to move on. It’s an incredibly honest take on how it feels to start over after love has gone wrong.

The last two tracks, “25” and “MILK” follow the same throughline sonically and lyrically. With lines like “You are the ghost in my house wanna turn my skeleton inside out” and “You told me that love was a lottery I’d never win”, the artist captures her continual let down by her quasi lover. The reflection of a romantic entanglement captures the hurt of “situationships”.

Sizzy Rocket’s new EP “From the Archives” is a powerful collection of songs that shows off her versatility as an artist. The EP features her lyrics that are honest, direct, and full of emotion, while her voice is strong and captivating. With its mix of styles, thoughtful lyrics, and catchy melodies, “From the Archives” is sure to be a hit with fans both old and new. Sizzy is going on tour starting in May of 2023, and these are songs you don’t want to miss live.
